What Green Organization Would you Recommend?

This is a call for feedback as we review how ONEgroup gives back to our global community

During the six years ONEgroup has been operating, we have set aside a portion of joining fees for giving back to the community- $5 for every member. Over the last six years ONEgroup has donated to the David Suzuki Foundation. David has been an environmental warrior and hero to the Directors well before creating our company and when environmental issues were rarely in the headlines. His stunning documentaries and courageous scientific research which provide a scientific platform for solving truly massive questions, have been contributing to input for management of our only planet for many untiring years.

The David Suzuki Foundation has been a significant contributor to global awareness of climate change, human health issues, global conservation of our forests and wildlife, and tackling the critical issues of the degradation of our oceans. It provides assistance to governments and businesses in creating practical solutions to a wide range of environmental and health issues and

formalizing practical principles of sustainable economies and ecologies. David’s big contribution is not just the many television documentaries and media activities he has generated over decades. A vast amount of scientific research has, and is, being generated by his team to support the knowledge and awareness of environmental issues in order to push through the political, commercial and social barriers to positive action and change by providing persuasive and understandable education based on sound science.

As a company we will continue to support the David Suzuki Foundation, but we are also wanting to branch out and contribute to other causes. There are so many charities and non-profit organizations that are doing truly heroic work around the globe. By spreading out our contributions, we hope to inspire everyone in the ONEgroup community and contribute to a wider range of essential planetary needs.

We would like to get feedback from our ONEgroup community to see what YOU would love to see ONEgroup supporting and we will consider every suggestion.  One idea is to contribute funds from each global region towards a non-profit organization local to that respective region.

Alternatively, based on the feedback, if international groups predominate in your feedback, then we may divide our total Giving Back funds amongst a small number of the non-profit organizations that stand out from the feedback.

What organizations would you recommend?  Post your comments with a weblink below. Tell me why you believe in that “green, sustainable” company.  I will review and pass along to the ONE Group management for review.

I am looking forward to learning about the great, green organizations out there!

Organic food is officially more nutritious!

There is a growing body of research to support the claim: Organic food is officially more nutritious!

Forty studies published over the last six years were collated into one substantial body of evidence for some clear-cut answers in 2008. The report ‘Nutritional Superiority of Organic Foods: State of Science

Review 2008’ found organic plant-based foods provide on average 25 percent more nutrition than their

non-organic counterparts.  Antioxidant high: The study found that organic fruit and vegetables contained between 20 and 40 percent more antioxidants, which scientists believe can cut the risk of cancer and heart disease, Australia’s biggest killers. They also had higher levels of vitamin C and beneficial minerals such as iron and zinc.

Child’s play: In the same year, a major study from the University of Southampton found that additives, preservatives and flavors in common food and beverages adversely affected the behavior of children (4). Researchers found ‘’clear evidence’’ that 3-year-old and 8-9-year-old children exposed to mixtures of artificial food colors and benzoate preservatives displayed significantly more hyperactive tendencies (increased movement, impulsivity and inattention). Organic foods contain no artificial additives, preservatives or flavors.
